Day 7: Hiawassee, GA

2.4 miles: Blue Mountain Shelter to Unicoi Gap
This is what is referred to as a "Nero Day" or near zero mileage day.

100% chance of rain today. Very foggy and rainy on the hike out. So I paired up with two other hikers and hitchhiked into town. Caught a ride with a very nice Mexican man named Fransisco driving into Hiawassee for work. Sharing a room at the budget inn! Just pigged out on the salad bar at ingles. Met the owner of Three Eagles Outfitters! They're main store is in Franklin, NC. They also have a "satellite" store here in Hiawassee with the necessities. Tha satellite store is only open during the busy thru hiker months. Very awesome people! Check them out If our ever in Franklin, NC!

  1. Jordan- We have never met, but I am an old friend of your Mom. I have a friend who just started her thru-hike 3/21. "Captain Buffy" said she'd keep an eye out for "Fozzy, and look for you in the registers. Good luck on your hike! -Vonda
