Day 9: Hello North Carolina!

12.5 miles: Deep Gap Shelter to Bly Gap

Last night we heard what we thought were coyotes except it was a wolf-like howl. Someone told us that it was probably a "coy wolf". I'm not sure about that, but it was quite an scary and exciting experience. They were right in our camp for sure.

Anyways...

Today started like this again:

After about 30 minutes of hiking the sun suddenly began to appear.

Then in about 10 seconds all the fog that has been on us for days lifted and it looked like this for the rest of the day:

Today was full of uphills and I was the only one able to accomplish their town errand sadly. But we hit the border!! Excited to be moving on to North Carolina! We got to the border and went just .1 of a mile past it and camped.

We got a campfire going, ate our meals, and had some good conversation. Now it's off to rest for a bigger day tomorrow! Standing Indian Mountain - 5,498 ft! Excited and crossing my fingers the weather holds!
